The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) was founded in 1989 with a mission to reignite the spirit, commitment, and revolutionary resolve of the original Black Panther movement. Rooted in a Black Nationalist perspective and a Pan-Africanist worldview, our purpose is to define, develop, and defend what is in the best interest of Black people—this is what we call Black Power.
Black people make up 13% of the North American population, yet we continue to experience economic and social disparities. Black communities are often gentrified by businesses that do not reinvest in our neighborhoods. We are policed by individuals who do not live among us, leading to systemic injustice and oppression. At the NBPP, we are taking action. We do not wait for change—we create it.
